New Eastwood Collection Rides Across Many Plains

No Clint Eastwood fans will be left unhappy when Warner Home Video's full Clint Eastwood Collection becomes available on Tuesday. Twenty-eight films by the take-no-prisoners action icon are available at $14.95 each. Also in this release is "Eastwood on Eastwood," a rare 69-minute behind-the-scenes look at the reticent star.

The jumbo release is hooked in with the highly anticipated release of Eastwood's "Space Cowboys" this summer, a story about some aging Air Force veterans undertaking a dangerous mission in space.

Eastwood, whose career has spanned more than four decades, has become one of the industry's most admired actors and directors. His work once moved famed director Orson Welles to note ". . . Clint Eastwood is the most underrated director in the world today."

Eastwood explains his success simply: "I do the kind of roles I'd like to see if I were digging swimming pools and wanted to escape my problems."

"Unforgiven," winner of four 1992 Academy Awards (best picture, Eastwood for best director, Gene Hackman for best supporting actor and best film editing), heads the list of favorites. Richard Harris and Morgan Freeman co-starred.

Of the films that are part of the Eastwood Collection, Numbers 2 to 7 are available in a "Clint Eastwood Six-Pack Gift Set" at $59.92 and on DVDs at $99.92. Numbers 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 14, 19, 22 and 27 are available on DVD at $24.98 each. "The Outlaw Josey Wales Special Edition," which includes an introduction by Eastwood, a making-of documentary and an original theatrical trailer, is available on both VHS and DVD at $19.98.
